Russian classical ballet and folk choreography of our country have always attracted a lot of attention because the choreographic Russian art is believed to be the top achievement of the mankind. Russian choreographic school gave the world great masters of the dance: both choreographers and performers. Love to the dance will never become instinct despite all the economic difficulties and political instability.
The main goal of the professional ballet school opened by "The Russian National Ballet "Kostroma" is to bring up professional dancers employing experimental methods of teaching. In 2005 the teachers of the school have obtained recognition as the teachers of the highest qualification. In 2007 the ballet school was accredited as a professional ballet school that has a right to issue the diplomas of the state certificate.
The ballet school has acquired the status of a private professional educational institution. Apprenticeship is 4 years and 10 months long. The graduates acquire diplomas: the specialty 070302 "The Choreographic Art", specialization is "The Performer of the Folk Dance".
Enrolment takes place once in 3 years. The number of students is limited to 20. Thus the education is almost individual as all the major professional disciplines are taught in smaller groups of 10 students.
The best graduates of the ballet school will be employed in "The Russian National Ballet "Kostroma".

The curriculum meets all the modern requirements to the process of studying which conform to the full training of a professional dancer. The cycle of the main disciplines of the general education includes the history of the choreographic art of Russia and overseas countries, history of the Russian and foreign theater and music, theory of music, musical literature, the history of Arts, ballet anatomy, physiology, psychohygiene of a ballet dancer, world culture, philosophy, world literature, gymnastics, acrobatics.

The special disciplines are: classical dance, folk dance, folk academic dance, historical dance, duet dance, modern dance, acting technique, make up, fencing, ball dancing etc.
Practical work: Particular attention is paid to the professional practice which takes place in "The National Ballet "Kostroma". Starting from the 4th year of education, they are participating in the concerts of the company.
